Established in 1996, Negotiation & Conflict Management Group (NCMG) is a membership-based organization, with keen focus on the promotion of Alternative Dispute Resolution and conflict management techniques.  Two missions fundamentally drive the NCMG focal point:

To advocate and institutionalize ADR in the judicial sector and increase public awareness of ADR mechanisms and services so as to encourage the use of prompt, effective and economical means of dispute resolution both in the public and private sectors.

To promote peaceful coexistence and a more just society and world through the adoption of systematic conflict management as an integral part of personal, professional and national lives.

Fulfilling these missions is embedded in a particular understanding of our location in Nigeria, nay Africa, with its several challenges in relation to dispute resolution and conflict management.  Hence   since its formation, NCMG has been at the cutting edge of professional services in the planning, design, implementation of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Conflict Management projects in Africa.  In June 2002, through a systemic process of consultation involving local Communities, the Judiciary, Bar, and Corporate Organizations, the NCMG established The Lagos Multi-Door Courthouse (the first court-connected ADR Centre in Africa), followed by its subsequent replication by the judiciary of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in November 2003. In 2006, The Kano Multi-Door Courthouse followed and many other state judiciaries in Nigeria are presently at different stages of implementation.

In 2008, NCMG created The NCMG College of Negotiation, a specialist institute dedicated to training and research in the fields of Negotiation, Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management. The NCMG College of Negotiation partners with Bond University, Australia and a number of local Universities and organisations to deliver world-class training and capacity building in these dynamic fields of study. In 2010, the NCMG after a 4-year campaign, succeeded in introducing ADR into the appellate courts, by pushing for and succeeding in the introduction of the Court of Appeal Mediation Program (CAMP) into the Court of Appeal Rules 2011.  Another milestone was recorded in 2011, when the NCMG entered into a joint venture agreement with University of Lagos, Nigeria, for the establishment of the UNILAG-NCMG College of Negotiation.

The NCMG Governing Board is composed of distinguished personalities and international citizens, chaired by a Former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Muhammadu Uwais, GCON. Other members of the distinguished board include Justice Kayode Eso, CON (NCMG Patron), Mr. Gamaliel Onosode, OFR (Vice Chairman), Chief Arthur Mbanefo, CON, Justice Dolapo Akinsanya,  Dr. Christopher Kolade, CON, Brig.
