The NCMG African ADR Summit came into being in 2006 as the flagship of the Negotiation & Conflict Management Group. In commemoration of its 10th anniversary, the Board of Governors of the NCMG decided that an annual forum was imperative to further promote and entrench the promise of Alternative Dispute Resolution within the African judicial and economic community. It was the reckoning of the Board of Governors that with the history and culture of confrontation which military rule brought into many African states coupled with an adversarial court system brought by colonialism, a relentless promotion of negotiation, accommodation and peaceful coexistence is a necessity. It was this background that heralded the birth of the now highly acclaimed NCMG African ADR Summit.

A collaboration between the National Judicial Institute and NCMG, the annual ADR Summit, affords leading institutions and corporate leaders meet to discuss leading edge thinking on ADR Practice in Africa. Since convening the first Summit, there has been a gradual development of a Think tank of human resource towards growth, economic development and meaningful change. The objective of The NCMG African ADR Summit is to create a platform for an indepth discussion on Alternative Dispute Resolution and bring about meaningful change in Africa.
